Formwork Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) is a kind of engineered wood products widely used in construction and Bridges, also known as "laminated veneer lumber" in China. LVL beams, columns and panels have become an important part of modern wood structures because of their many advantages, various uses and reliable structural properties
LVL is made from thick veneer bonded with a weather-resistant phenolic adhesive. This also means that LVL product size is not limited by the size of the raw material, and even trail grade logs can be used to produce large LVL beams and plates. In the production of LVL, any natural defects of the wood (such as knots) are scattered over the veneer in small pieces when the wood is peeled for the production of the veneer. This eliminates the defect effect and, coupled with the lamination effect, results in very uniform material properties. Although LVL, like all engineered wood products, is more expensive to produce than sawn timber, the same building structure can be designed with a smaller section size when LVL is used, and LVL can also be used when suitable sawn timber sizes are not available.
LVL has the characteristics of high strength, high stiffness and low variability, which means that these properties can be fully exploited as characteristic values in structural design. In addition, because there are no large defects, LVL has an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio, and LVL of the same mass is twice as strong as steel. Because LVL is laminated structure, dimensional stability, no warping, no fragmentation and cracking. LVL has been dried before leaving the factory, and as long as the LVL components are avoided directly in the open air, the risk of drying shrinkage on the installation site or in the completed building is reduced.
